the everydayness of love

I used to think that love meant swinging from a chandelier in a cocktail dress. I used to think that love was a particularly grand and isolated incident, like a party with live jazz and tuxedoed waiters. This was before now. What I didn't know then was that love is an everyday, familiar, private connection that's explored within the context of a thousand other responsibilities and emotions. I know now that love is a simple series of small moments pieced together to create a masterpiece that looks something like two people swinging from a chandelier.

enthroned

You are my King and my God, who decrees victories for Jacob. Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes. I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever. Psalm 44
You are enthroned at the highest place, at the center point. You draw me close with compassion and cleanse my heart before you so that I might again enjoy your presense. Your standards I will uphold as you strengthen me to serve you and your Kingdom as long as I live.
