magazine

Last Tuesday, I was riding the Metro home from a meeting and I purposely sat next to this oh so attractive black man in gray pinstriped pants and a black sweater. I just had to. I usually avoid the most attractive person on the train, but I went against my instincts and sat down next to him. I was reading The New York Times Style Magazine when he asked me if it was DC Magazine (the best DC-related style magazine in existence), which led to a short discussion about how much Washington lacks a creative representation like New York or Hollywood despite the fact that DC basically runs the world. The bottom line, we decided, was that politics can't be glamourized. It's too boring, and in the end no one really cares.

Nevertheless, the greater lesson here for me is to always carry a prop. Men have a hard enough time approaching a woman who has her act together. The very least I can do is give them an excuse to begin a conversation.

Our time together may have been brief, but that man was such a tasty snack. Maybe I'll run into him again. I tried to memorize his face, but I've already lost his image in my mind.

?uest

"Great women compare themselves to no one."

And neither to any place or thing. Great women are not competitors. They don't need to be.

somehow

Cause you believe me somehow
You're second to none
And you got my love
You got me under the gun
Cause you will see me somehow
I'll stay with you, stay with you, stay with you til the end

You got your coat on
Got me focused on
Dont move and slow motion
Every time I see its just enough
Cause you and I were meant to be together in love

And I said all my life
See I been spending all this time
Everytime I see, its just enough
Cause you and I were meant to be together in love

presence

Standing there, you're so spectacular. An oversized and meek presence.

I'll just be over here building an empire.

Faith and Patience.
